We recently got a call from our friends over at TrueFacet.com that they had just received a rare Richard Mille RM055 Bubba Watson White Asia Edition — “rare” in this case meaning that there were only 30 pieces sold worldwide. And the fact that the watch is one of this model’s “White Asia Editions” makes it probably an even rarer sight here in the U.S.
Over the years Richard Mille has released several limited editions dedicated to this particular brand ambassador: Watson is one of the rare left-handed players on the golfing circuit who also happens to wear a timepiece on his wrist when playing.
The watch shown here (note that the serial number was blurred in order to protect the owner’s identity) comes with a two-year warranty and is currently being sold for $94,995.00, making it one of the five most expensive watches on TrueFacet.com
TrueFacet is an online marketplace based in New York that lets both consumers and retailers buy and sell pre-owned watches and jewelry. The company started in 2014 and has more than 50,000 items on the site today.
The crown and case (49.90 mm x 42.70 mm), also in grade 5 titanium, are covered with a protective white or red rubber coating. Water-resistance is 30 meters, the sapphire crystals on both sides are curved and anti-reflective.

This one is the white-and-red hand-wound version, with indications for hours, minutes and seconds.
Richard Mille chose grade 5 titanium for the baseplate and bridges of the skeletonized movement (the RMUL2, which is based on the RMUL1 and comes with 55 hours of power reserve). It is capable of withstanding accelerations of over 500 Gs and can therefore be worn on the golf course without suffering damaging impacts.
The movement itself weighs only 4.3 grams, according to Richard Mille, and features a double-barrel system for improved torque stability and performance. The jewels on the escapement wheel are transparent, and the balance wheel is equipped with a variable inertia which should help improve the long-term accuracy of the watch.
